Team for 2010 IOI in Waterloo selected
Three high school students from Canterbury have been selected for the New Zealand Olympiad in Informatics team to attend the IOI in Waterloo, Canada in August 2010.
They are Jamie McCloskey from Unlimited Paenga Tawhiti, Logan Glasson from Burnside and Tony Sun from Christs College. Also in the team is Boris Pfahringer who is a first year university student at Waikato. Both Jamie and Boris have attended an IOI previously and will be hoping to improve on their bronze medals won last year.

New Zealanders Amongst the Winners at the World's Top Computer Programmers International Olympiad
Two New Zealanders have proudly taken the stage to receive bronze medals at the world's most prestigious programming contest for high school students. Jamie McCloskey from Akaroa and Boris Pfahringer from Hamilton are thrilled with their success in the 2009 International Olympiad in Informatics.

Recent Programming Contest Successes
2010 AIIO
The 5th Australian Invitational Informatis Olympiad was held on Feb 18th.
Jamie Gold with a perfect score of 300
Logan Glasson gained the top scoring Bronze medal.
Unofficial NZ competitors Boris Pfahringer and Simon Welsh also got perfect scores.

2010 FARIO
FARIO is the France-Australia Contest which New Zealand is invited to participate in. This is the 7th such contest as was held in early March.
Logan Glasson was 3rd highest with 298 and Jamie McCloskey was 10th with 217.
Unofficial NZ competitors Boris Pfahringer and Simon Welsh gained 233 and 232 respectively.

About the NZOI
NZOI is the NZ Informatics Olympiad, one of a number of Secondary School Olympiads operating under the umbrella NZ Science Olympiads organization.
The NZOI's goals are to - Provide training opportunities in Informatics to selected New Zealand students who are currently enrolled in a Secondary School in New Zealand or who have been enrolled in the last 8 months.
- To select students for the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) www.ioinformatics.org.
- To foster informatics (programming) in high schools.
The IOI is the foremost high school programming contest in the world. Each year, about August, it is hosted by a different country. New Zealand first sent a team in 2006 to the 18th Olympiad.
