Consultation on Alignment of New Zealand Scholarship performance standards
The Ministry of Education has contracted Research New Zealand to carry out consultation with users of the New Zealand Scholarship performance standards. NZQA and the Ministry of Education have been working on aligning the New Zealand Scholarship performance standards to The New Zealand Curriculum (NZC). This work follows on from the alignment of the NCEA Level 1 to 3 achievement standards. As for NCEA Level 3, the aligned New Zealand Scholarship performance standards will take effect from 2013.
The Ministry and NZQA have worked with subject specialists to provide a draft of the revised New Zealand Scholarship performance standards for the 35 scholarship subjects. There are 26 standards in the consultation because 6 Languages are covered by a single performance standard and 5 Visual Arts subjects are covered by a single standard.
The Ministry will publish the next draft of the New Zealand Scholarship performance standards and the associated draft assessment specifications by 31 May 2012.
Research New Zealand have set up a web site for online consultation.
We encourage online responses to be made, but paper submissions will also be accepted.
This consultation will close on Monday 30 April 2012.
Your response to the proposals is important. We encourage you to give reasons for your responses, because these provide a valuable context for the Ministry to consider how changes should be made to the draft standards.

If you have any problems completing the on-line feedback form, contact Terry Isaako at Research New Zealand on 0800 500 168 or by email email@example.com.
